Title:
WDCGG - CO observation at Krvavec by ARSO
Created:
Tue Oct 29 23:05:56 UTC 2019
Detailed information
Product description:
The regional monitoring site is located on the slope of Krvavec mountain peak on the height of 1740m. It is surrounded mostly by short grass (above 1600m) and partly by coniferous forest (below 1600 m). The surrounding mountain peaks of 1500-2500m are rocky. The monitoring site is above the cold surface layer of air which forms in the Ljubljana basin during cold period of the year. Sometimes, not very often, when the inversion layer occurs at the height of 2-3 km a.s.l. (caused by subsidence in a stable anticyclone), the station sinks into the inversion layer. During such events the site is usually in clouds. Its distance from industry and geographical position enable to monitor background concentrations. In skiing season of the year the ski center with its infrastructure occasionally slightly contributes to local air pollution.
